Why We Love It

You might be surprised to learn that when we visit the shore, it's not the beach or the salty air the I look forward to the most--it's the boardwalk candy, and in particular the decadent, melt-in-your-mouth fudge from our favorite candy shoppe. There's something really special about indulging in some sweet, creamy fudge that you can tell has been perfected over time. It's partly nostalgic for sure, but there's more to it than that. When you enjoy a piece of well made, rich fudge, you immediately enter a world of indulgence that is extremely satisfying--especially for a serious chocolate lover like me.

Sadly though, we typically only go to the shore one week out of an entire year. That means that the other 51 weeks are filled with emptiness--at least when it comes to enjoying delicious, decadent fudge!

That's where Creamy Marshmallow Fudge comes in. Yes, this recipe was definitely created to fill a certain chocolatey void. And although I don't make this every week, I do make it more than a few times a year to keep it special and to hold us over until our next trip. While it may not be as perfected as my favorite candy shoppe's, I have to say it comes pretty darn close!

Fudge Storing Tips

  • To prevent fudge pieces from sticking to each other, place parchment/wax paper in between layers. You may also choose to individually wrap pieces.
  • If you don't plan on enjoying the fudge within 3-5 days, store it (or a portion of it) in the freezer.
  • To freeze, wrap the fudge tightly as a whole block or in cut pieces in several layers of parchment or wax paper. Then place in an airtight container.
  • If properly sealed, the fudge will keep in the freezer for up to 6 months. When ready to enjoy, take it out of the freezer and have it thaw on your counter at room temperature for a few hours.

Note

Please use evaporated milk (not sweetened, condensed milk) for this recipe. The products are very different and unfortunately one cannot be substituted for the other.

Feel free to experiment with the flavor/type of chocolate you use in this recipe. I would strive to use name brand, good quality chocolate.

This fudge is very customizable! Add 1/2 cup unsalted nuts to the fudge mixture before putting it in the fridge to set. You can also decorate the top of the fudge by gently pressing your favorite sprinkles and/or mini candies on top!
