The crunchy rice cereal gets coated so perfectly with hot Cajun flavor, but my favorite part are the peanuts, which are often found hiding in the bottom of the bowl with all the seasoned, spicy crumbs–jackpot!

Ingredients for Cajun Snack Mix
For a full list of ingredients and measurements, see the printable recipe card below
- Rice Chex–feel free to use store brand; the corn and wheat varieties (or a combination of all 3) are also good choices
- cheese crackers–I use Cheez-it–and I do think brand name is best here
- pretzels–pretzel sticks are pictured in this recipe, but I actually prefer more bite-sized varieties–especially pretzel rounds or twists
- peanuts–salted is best; feel free to add additional nuts of your choice
- butter–for a creamy, more savory sauce over oil
- Worcestershire sauce–adds a bold flavor to the sauce
- Cajun seasoning–If you’re lucky to live near a Pepper Palace, their seasoning is amazing! Slap Ya Mama is also a good choice. You can also make your own with chili powder, thyme and cayenne pepper–see the notes in the recipe card below
- garlic powder–adds savory flavor
- dry mustard–adds tangy flavor

Helpful Tips for this Recipe
- This spicy Cajun Snack Mix tastes better the longer it sits! After 24 hours, the flavors really come together and absorb into the crackers and rice cereal quite nicely.
- When mixing all the contents together, the rice cereal is a good indicator of how well the ingredients are blended. The cereal will start to look a little brown and speckled. This shows that the contents have been mixed well.
Storing Cajun Snack Mix
Store in an airtight container. Enjoy within 1-2 weeks. No need to refrigerate.
