ham and swiss cheese sliders on pan

Ham and Swiss Cheese Sliders

Kitchen Ready Betty
Gone in just a few savory bites, these delicious Ham and Swiss Cheese sliders are perfect for parties and tailgating. In this easy recipe, Hawaiian sweet rolls are filled with shaved ham and Swiss cheese and then marinate in a buttery, Dijon glaze before baking to buttery crisp, gooey cheese perfection.
**If possible, prepare this the night before you plan to bake it. This gives the butter glaze time to marinate.**

Ingredients

  • 1 (12 count) pakage Hawaiian sweet rolls King's Hawaiian highly recommended
  • ¾ lb premium low sodium deli ham, shaved Boar's Head or other high end brand recommended
  • lb (12 slices) Swiss cheese sliced thin
  • ¼ cup (½ stick) butter
  • 1 tablespoon dijon mustard Grey Poupon highly recommended
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1-2 tablespoon poppy seeds

Instructions

  • Arrange the slider bottoms in a slightly greased 13x9 pan.
  • Evenly distribute the ham over slider bottoms.
  • Place the Swiss cheese on top.
  • Place the tops of the rolls onto the sliders. Set aside.
  • Melt butter in small pot over low heat. Then add the Dijon, Worcestershire and garlic powder. Stir over low heat for 1-2 minutes.
  • Pour the marinade directly from the pot (if spouted) over the top of the sliders. Alternatively, you may use a pastry brush to apply the marinade.
  • Sprinkle 1-2 tablespoons of poppy seeds on top of the sliders.
  • It is strongly suggested to cover sliders and place in the fridge for a few hours before baking, but overnight is best.
  • Bake covered in a 375 degree preheated oven for 15 minutes. Uncover and bake another 3-5 minutes or until sliders are heated through. Let stand 5 minutes before serving.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container and refrigerate for up to 5 days.
  • Reheat covered in a 325 degree preheated oven for 10 minutes. Uncover and bake an additional 2-3 minutes or until sliders are heated through.

Notes

This recipe easily doubles to accommodate a crowd. When enjoying these as a main course, we typically eat 2-3 sliders each as a point of reference.
Please do not omit the Worcestershire sauce. It's the secret ingredient that helps the marinade really taste amazing!
Strive to use premium shaved or chipped ham for a better taste, easier assembling and easier eating.
