Instructions
Using kitchen shears, cut the marshmallows in half lengthwise; use edible marker to dot on eyes; press orange sprinkle in for nose.
Assemble each cookie one at a time by doing the following steps:
Squirt cookie icing onto plain cookie; add silver sprinkles and press marshmallow head, sticky side down, on top of icing (toward the back of the cookie).
Wrap licorice around the head and allow to lay in the icing.
Press on candy buttons (M&Ms).
Allow cookies to set on cookie rack for a minimum of 1 hour before serving or storing.
Notes
Decorate the cookies one at a time (not in an assembly line) so you can work with the wet icing before it sets.Store Melted Snowman Cookies in an airtight container. Enjoy within 7 days. Do not refrigerate or freeze. It's best not to have cookies overlap when storing; if you need to for space reasons, make sure they are fully dry and place layers of parchment paper in between.I find it helpful to make the crisscross with the licorice before placing it over the marshmallow head; if you feel that the "scarf" is too long, wait until after the cookie sets to trim it with kitchen shears.Choose a hard cookie for this recipe (I like Pepperidge Farm's Thin and Crispy Butter Crisp Cookies). As the assembled cookies sit, they soften because they absorb some of the icing.
