Stop buying expensive store-bought flavored nuts and make these Chili Lime Cashews in your air fryer instead! This quick 5-minute easy recipe uses simple pantry staples like fresh lime juice and chili powder to create a zesty, crunchy snack that’s way better (and healthier) than any bagged version. They are perfectly roasted, totally addictive, and ready in less time than it takes to preheat your oven.

Whether you're prepping for a last-minute gathering or just need a protein-packed afternoon pick-me-up, these sweet and tangy cashews are ready to enjoy in less time than it takes to find a bag of chips in the pantry.
This easy, 5-minute air fryer recipe is a total game-changer for anyone who loves a crunch but wants to keep things light. Because the air fryer circulates hot air so efficiently, these Chili Lime Cashews achieve a perfect, crispy roast with absolutely no added oils. You get all the satisfying, toasted texture of traditional roasted nuts without the greasy residue or extra calories.

Just like our Candied Mixed Nuts and Cajun Snack Mix, what makes these roasted cashews a true winner is the addictive flavor profile that hits every taste bud. The zesty acidity of the lime perfectly balances the smoky heat of the chili, while a touch of brown sugar creates a caramelized finish that keeps you coming back for more.
Air fryer chili lime cashews are a trendy, vibrant snack that's guaranteed to be a hit at your next football watch party or holiday event!

🥘Ingredients

- salted whole cashews - provide a satisfying, protein-packed crunch and a rich, buttery base for the seasonings to cling to
- chili powder - adds a smoky heat and deep flavor that gives the snack its signature kick
- brown sugar - creates a light caramelized finish that perfectly balances the spice with a touch of sweetness
- freshly squeezed lime juice - the zesty acidity cuts through the richness of the nuts and brightens up the smoky chili notes
- salt - this enhances all the individual flavors, making the combination of sweet, tangy, and spicy even more addictive
See recipe card for quantities.
🔪Instructions

- Step 1: Mix the chili powder and brown sugar with the cashews.

- Step 2: Drizzle on the lime juice and mix well.

- Step 3: Place in a single layer in an air fryer basket; air fry for 5 minutes.

- Step 4: Remove basket from air fryer; sprinkle with salt and let nuts rest in basket for 1 minute, then transfer to a clean workspace to fully cool.
Hint: For this recipe, I used a Ninja Air Fryer 6.5 QT Pro XL and the nuts fit fine in a single layer. If your basket is smaller, air fry your cashews in batches so they air fry evenly. Because different models circulate air differently, you may need to adjust your batches or shaking technique based on your specific machine.
🥣Substitutions
- Honey - use this instead of brown sugar to give the nuts a different type of floral sweetness and a stickier glaze
- Lemon juice - replace the lime with lemon if you prefer a sharper citrus tang that still brightens up the smoky spices
- Smoked paprika - switch out the chili powder for this if you want a milder, earthy flavor without the heat

💭Top tip
Typically, Air fryer recipes are all about the shake. But in this recipe, you don't want to overdo it, since the nuts are only in the air fryer for 5 minutes. Follow the instructions on the recipe card for how many times to shake your basket and how to get the best results with this recipe.
🗨️FAQ
Yes, you can. Place the nuts on a large rimmed cookie sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake them at 350°F for 7 minutes, stir, then bake for an additional 3-5 minutes, or until nuts are slightly browned.
The lime juice acts as a binder in this recipe, but if you find the spices aren't sticking well, you can add a small drizzle of oil (like olive or avocado oil) to help the chili powder and sugar adhere to the smooth surface of the cashews.
I use regular salted cashews for this recipe; if you use raw, you may need to air fry an additional minute or two. I don't recommend pre-roasted nuts, because they will brown too quickly or become over-toasted before the flavor has a chance to set.
