This no-bake dessert recipe is packed with clever shortcuts that make it easy for bakers of any skill level to pull together. By using a premade crust, instant lemon pudding, and Dream Whip, you get a gourmet look and taste without the heavy lifting. It's a fantastic way to serve a beautiful, multi-layered treat while keeping things stress-free in the kitchen.

One of the best parts about this easy berry lush recipe is that it's a completely no-bake dessert. The patriotic red, white, and blue colors make this pie a total showstopper for summer holidays like Memorial Day or the 4th of July. While the strawberry and blueberry combo is a classic, the recipe is also very easy to customize with whatever fresh fruit you have on hand. It pairs perfectly with other seasonal favorites like my strawberry pretzel delight and strawberry fluff salad for the ultimate dessert spread.

ingredients

🥘Ingredients

  • 1 pre-made, name brand, graham cracker crust
  • cream cheese- I use Philadelphia reduced fat
  • sugar & milk- mixed with the cream cheese layer for added sweetness and velvety smoothness
  • strawberries & blueberries- use fresh and firm berries to cut down on extra liquid
  • Dream Whip Whipped Topping Mix- yes, they still make it! Find it near the instant pudding
  • milk- skim or 1 % is recommended for mixing with Dream Whip
  • vanilla extract
  • lemon flavored instant pudding and pie filling- only use instant
  • milk- this additional portion is mixed with the pudding

🔪Instructions

spreading mixture in crust
  1. Step 1: Use a hand mixer to beat cream cheese, sugar and 2 tablespoons of milk until smooth. Then spread the mixture evenly into the bottom of the pre-made graham crust.
adding berries
  1. Step 2: Gently press 1 cup of the halved strawberries and ½ cup of the blueberries into the cream cheese mixture.
spreading pudding layer
  1. Step 3: Prepare Dream Whip and pudding according to package directions. Gently spread pudding/whip mixture over the berries in the pie crust, taking time to make sure the mixture reaches the crust's edges.

  1. Step 4: Once the pie is set, spread the remaining prepared whip on top, sealing it to the edges. Then top with the remaining berries.

Hint: For the best results, ensure the pie chills in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours to set completely. Adding the final layer of Dream Whip and fresh berries to a fully chilled pie prevents the layers from bleeding and keeps this no-bake dessert looking picture-perfect.

🥣Substitutions

  • Cream cheese - For a lighter summer berry lush pie, swap the full-fat cream cheese for a low-fat or Neufchâtel variety. This simple change reduces the calories in your no-bake dessert while keeping the signature creamy texture of this berry lush recipe.
  • Pudding - Give your summer berry lush pie a tropical twist by replacing the lemon instant pudding with coconut cream pudding. This variation creates a delicious coconut berry dessert that pairs perfectly with the fresh strawberries and blueberries in the graham cracker crust.
  • Dream whip - Substitute the Dream Whip with an 8-ounce container of thawed whipped topping for a quick shortcut. Using a pre-whipped topping is an easy way to ensure your no-bake berry lush stays firm and ready to serve in record time.

📖Variations

  • Patriotic Vibe - Arrange the strawberries and blueberries in a flag pattern on top of the cream cheese layer. This festive styling makes your summer berry lush pie the perfect centerpiece for any holiday cookout or neighborhood block party.
  • Mixed Berry Lush - Add fresh raspberries or blackberries to the filling alongside the strawberries. Adding more seasonal fruit enhances the flavor profile of this no-bake dessert while giving it a vibrant, gourmet look.

💭Top Tip

For the best results, use Dream Whip to give your summer berry lush pie a light, meringue-like sweetness that isn’t as heavy as traditional whipped toppings. When folded into the lemon pudding, it creates a fluffy, gourmet texture that makes this easy no-bake dessert truly stand out.

💬FAQ

Can I use frozen berries for this pie?

I don't recommend frozen berries because they are very mushy when they defrost. This could lead to a soggy and runny crust, as well as too much liquid on the top of the pie.

What is the difference between Dream Whip and Cool Whip?

Both are whipped toppings, but Dream Whip is a powdered mix. In contrast, Cool Whip comes pre-whipped in a tub.

How do I prevent my no-bake lush dessert from being runny?

To ensure your no-bake dessert sets properly, always use instant pudding rather than the "cook and serve" variety, and be careful not to over-measure the milk. Chilling the pie for 2–4 hours is essential. This helps the cream cheese and pudding layers firm up for clean slicing.

Can I make this berry lush recipe ahead of time?

Yes, this berry lush recipe is an excellent make-ahead dessert because the flavors meld and the layers stabilize as they sit. For the best results, prepare the pie up to 24 hours in advance, but wait to add the final garnish of fresh strawberries and blueberries until just before serving to keep the fruit looking fresh.

Why didn't my Dream Whip thicken properly?

The most common reason Dream Whip fails to thicken is using milk that isn't cold enough or stopping the mixer too early. For a perfectly fluffy summer berry lush, use ice-cold milk and beat the mixture on high speed for a full 4 minutes until stiff peaks form.

Instructions

  • In a medium mixing bowl, use a hand mixer on a low/medium setting to beat cream cheese, sugar and 2 tablespoons of milk until smooth. Then spread the mixture evenly into the bottom of the pre-made crust.
  • Gently press 1 cup of the halved strawberries and ½ cup blueberries into the cream cheese mixture. (The remaining berries are reserved for the topping.)
  • In a large mixing bowl, prepare the Dream Whip according to package directions: Combine the contents of the envelope, ½ cup skim milk and vanilla; use mixer on low speed to combine. Then beat on high speed for 4 minutes or until soft peaks form. Set momentarily aside while you prepare the pudding.
  • In a separate, medium mixing bowl, make pudding according to package directions, using the remaining 1 cup of milk. Then fold 1 cup of the prepared whip into the pudding.
  • Gently spread pudding mixture over the berries in the pie crust, taking time to make sure the mixture reaches the crust's edges.
  • Refrigerate pie until set (about 2 hours). Refrigerate remaining whip and berries, which will be used in the next step.
  • Once pie is set, spread the remaining prepared whip on top, sealing it to the edges. Then top with the remaining berries.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container and refrigerate for up to 3 days.

Notes

Only use fresh berries for this recipe. Frozen berries are too watery and will affect the consistency of the pie.
For the best results, ensure the pie chills in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours to set completely. Adding the final layer of Dream Whip and fresh berries to a fully chilled pie prevents the layers from bleeding and keeps this no-bake dessert looking picture-perfect.
I like to use a Keebler's Ready-Made Graham Crust as a shortcut, but feel free to make your own. Just keep in mind that the standard 9-inch pie plate is bigger than a store-bought crust.
