Perfectly creamy, with just the right amount of sweetness, this simple, two ingredient Fruit Dip Recipe pairs well with a variety of fresh fruit, cookies, and crackers. This easy dip is rich in flavor like a cheesecake, but satiny smooth like a bowl of pudding, making it a party fruit platter and snack tray favorite.

Easy entertaining options definitely come in handy around the busy holidays, or any time you need a tasty bite that comes together in a flash, like Stuffed Mini Peppers and Pepperoni Pizza Crescent Rolls.

This incredibly quick and easy, 2 ingredient, creamy fruit dip just might be the best (and tastiest) though. With sour cream and vanilla pudding, it really doesn't get much simpler.

Those aren't two ingredients you often see together, but when paired, they make a dang good fruit dip that's truly sensational and very hard to resist.

From fresh juicy strawberries and cherries, to sweet pineapple chunks and banana slices (not to mention your favorite apple slices), you'll be amazed at the variety of fruit that's fun to dunk into this dreamy and delicious dip.

A bowl of this would also feel right at home on a dessert charcuterie board, especially if it's next to vanilla wafers and graham crackers 😉.

👪Why you'll love it

Comes together quickly- If you have 5 minutes to spare, you have plenty of time to throw this tasty fruit dip together! No fancy mixing or equipment needed.

Great make ahead recipe- I suggest letting the dip chill for a minimum of one hour, but it tastes even better and creamier the next day!

Kids love it- Struggling to get your kids to eat fruit? Easy fruit dip to the rescue! Plus this is a much healthier option to serve instead of nachos and such at slumber parties, kiddie parties, or just because. (As a bonus, this dip is also great with animal crackers!)

🥘Only 2 Ingredients Needed

ingredients
  • sour cream- I like reduced fat Daisy's or Breakstone's because they're creamier and thicker than other brands
  • vanilla pudding- cook and serve (not instant) is used for this recipe, but no stove is needed, I promise!
  • variety of fresh fruit, cookies and crackers- some of our favorites are strawberries, banana slices, and graham crackers

See recipe card for quantities.

🔪Instructions

whisking the ingredients
  1. Step 1: Whisk together the sour cream and pudding for 2-3 minutes.
dip completed
  1. Step 2: Chill for at least one hour before serving.

Hint: Wash and prep the fruit you plan on serving with this dip while it sets in the fridge.

🌿Healthy Ingredient Substitutions

  • Plain Greek Yogurt - Swapping the reduced-fat sour cream for plain, non-fat Greek yogurt is an excellent way to keep the thick, creamy consistency and tangy flavor. As a bonus, it significantly boosts the protein content and adds gut-healthy probiotics to the dip.
  • Sugar-Free Vanilla Pudding Mix - To cut down on added sugars and calories, you can easily swap the traditional cook-and-serve pudding for a sugar-free alternative.

For an easy Greek yogurt-based fruit dip, with a hint of lime and honey, see our Greek Yogurt Fruit Dip!

🍽Equipment

  • medium mixing bowl
  • whisk - These silicone whisks are a favorite in my kitchen (affiliate link).
  • spoon

🍶Storage

Store in an airtight container. Keep refrigerated for up to 5 days. Do not freeze.

The longer this fruit dip sits, the better it gets. If you plan on serving it at a party, I suggest doubling the recipe!

🗨️FAQ

What fruit is best for dipping?

Honestly, we haven't found one that we haven't liked with this dip, though I will say I'm partial to strawberries. Choose a variety of colors and textures (berries, tropical fruit, apples, etc.) for a fruit platter tray to truly delight your taste buds.

Can you make fruit dip ahead of time?

Absolutely, and I encourage it with this recipe to allow time for the pudding to dissolve and blend well with the sour cream.

Can I use different flavors of pudding?

As long as it's not instant. Get creative and please come back to share how it turned out!
