Impress your guests with this beautiful and festive Caprese Salad Wreath. With fresh mozzarella, juicy cherry tomatoes, green olives, and basil, this delicious and easy toothpick appetizer pairs well with pesto and is always a hit.

Entertaining during the winter holidays? This festive caprese salad wreath recipe is one of the easiest appetizers you can make.
Just like my Fruit Dip Recipe, this beautiful tray literally comes together in minutes and can also be prepared ahead of time!
Simply stack the mini skewers with mozzarella pearls, pitted Castelvetrano olives, and cherry tomatoes. Vary this order on each skewer to make a stunning presentation. Then arrange on a festive plate, garnish with fresh basil, add a dipping cup with pesto, and presto...you're finished!

This caprese salad Christmas wreath is always the talk of the party (along with Candied Cranberries), and is so fun to eat. Everyone loves dipping their mini skewer in a little pesto (even the kids!), which tastes absolutely amazing with all the ingredients.

🥘Ingredients

- cherry tomatoes- choose cherry tomatoes on the smaller side for easier eating; I like Sunset brand
- fresh mozzarella pearls- drain these before using
- pitted Castelvetrano olives- I like this variety for the wreath because of the pretty green color, plus these olives are more kid-friendly because they're sweeter, have a bit of a buttery taste, and are mild
- fresh basil- not only does fresh basil pair well with the ingredients (we're going for caprese, after all 😉), but it also makes a beautiful garnish
- pesto- you can make your own or buy jarred
See recipe card for quantities.
🔪Instructions

- Step 1: Stack mozzarella, tomatoes and olives on skewers; vary the order for aesthetic appeal.

- Step 2: Arrange skewers on plate; garnish with basil and place dipping cup with pesto in center.
Hint: Pierce the cherry tomatoes through the top where the stem used to be for a prettier presentation and less mess.
🥣Substitutions
- Tomatoes - swap the cherry tomatoes for small grape tomatoes
- Cheese - for a creamier taste, use burrata pearls instead
- Olives - replace the olives with fresh basil leaves on the skewers
📖Variations
- With balsamic glaze - you can choose to drizzle a small amount of this over the wreath for added flavor
- With different colored tomatoes - small orange and yellow tomatoes also look pretty on the wreath; add them to the skewers in addition to the red tomatoes (you'll want to use 4.5 inch skewers with this option)
Have more mozzarella pearls? Make Italian Tortellini Pasta Salad, which is a great Christmas side dish!
🍽Equipment
- 3.5-4.5 inch cocktail skewers (36 count)
🍶Storage
Store leftovers in an airtight container and refrigerate; enjoy within 3 days.
💭Top tip
While it's tempting to place the skewers through the pits in the olives; it's best to pierce the olives on the side. That way, the olives don't fall off the skewers.
